HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01152008 - PR.2 V6/- Y'� Pk , 2 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING CONTRA COSTA RESOLUTIONNO. 2008/52 RESIDENT CAPTAIN PATRICIA CLAIRE PETERSON FOR HER DEDICATED,THOUGHTFUL,AND INSPIRING SERVICE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WHEREAS, Captain Patricia Claire Peterson graduated from Pinole Valley High School in 1986, from the University of California at Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology in 1997, and she is currently enrolled in a Masters in Epidemiology program at the University of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, Captain Patricia Peterson joined the United States Army on 21 July 1998; and WHEREAS,she completed Officer Basic School at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in May 1999; and WHEREAS, Captain Patricia Peterson served as an Environmental Science Officer at the 2nd Medical Brigade, Oakland Army Base, Oakland, California from 1998 until 2000; and WHEREAS, Captain Patricia Peterson served as an HHC Executive Officer & LNO to the Republic of Korean Army in the 322 Civil Affairs Brigade at Fort Shafter, Oahu, Hawaii from 2000 until 2002; and WHEREAS, Captain,Peterson served as Budget Officer & Civil Affairs Officer for PACOM, J3, Civil Military Operations at,Camp Smith, Oahu,Hawaii from 2002 until 2003; and WHEREAS,Captain,Patricia Peterson was deployed in response to the Tsunami Relief from PACOM, J5, Commanders Trip Coordinator and Intel Officers''°''out of Camp Smith, Oahu, Hawaii from 2003 until 2004; and WHEREAS, she served as Division Preventive Medicine Officer deployed in response to Hurricane Katrina in the 82nd Airborne Division,Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 2005 until 2006; and WHEREAS, Captain Patricia Peterson was deployed 15 months as a BDE Preventive Medicine Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, in charge of vaccination programs, approved water and food sources, sanitation, and environment impacts for Coalition Forces of approximately 10,000, disease investigation, non-battle injury tracking and field sanitation training of the Iraqi Army in the 82nd Sustainment Brigade, Tallil, Iraq; and WHEREAS, Captain Patricia Peterson was awarded the Humanitarian Service Ribbon, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award with Army Frame, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Joint Service Commendation Award, the Joint Service Achievement Medal Ribbon, the Army Commendation Medal Ribbon (two times), the Army Achievement Medal Ribbon (four times), the Armed Forces Reserve Medal Ribbon with M Device, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal Ribbon, the Overseas Training Ribbon, the Korean Defense Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Supervisor Susan A. Bonilla hereby honors Captain Patricia Claire Peterson,for her dedicated,thoughtful,and i 1 1 service to the United States of America. FEDERAL D.
