HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10172007 - RES-548 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid RESOLUTION NO. , 4 Transit District . WHEREAS the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District has developed engineering and financial plans for the development of a rapid transit system in certain Bay Area counties, inclusive of the County of Contra Costa; and WHEREAS the acceptance of final plans for the over-all transit system has been delayed due to objections raised and/or changes requested by certain Bay Area counties; and WHEREAS the development of revised plans is to be under- taken by the above named district; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED as follows : 1 . The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District make strenuous efforts to have passed legislation such that the district itself and the district under ,point powers agreements with counties may establish setback lines along proposed route extensions to prevent encroachment on such proposed extensions . 2 . Funds which may become surplus to the needs of the district for the development of the rapid transit system as contemplated be earmarked for the exten- sion of the system to Pittsburg, Antioch and Brentwood in Contra Costa County, including both the establishing of setbacks and actual transit system construction . 3 . Surplus funds be construed to include any extra monies which may become available to the district from the issuance of bands, from allocations of federal sub- ventions and from other sources . 4 . Pending the extension of the proposed transit system to Pittsburg, Antioch and Brentwood, the district take action to establish feeder bus service from such points to the most easterly terminus of the transit system as originally constructed in Contra Costa County . AND BE IT FURTHER BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that The Honorable Edmund G. Brown, Governor of California, be memorialized to give attention to and support the above stated recommendations . PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of January, 1962, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors Mei. F. Nielsen, Thomas Jahn Coll, Edmund A . Linscheid, Joseph S. Silva . NOES: None .
