The Board considered recommendations of the Civil. Service Commission for salary increases for the police and fire personnel, and the following persons appeared with reference to said matter: Mr. E. K. Irwin, representing the United Professional Fire Fighters of Contra Costa County, Local 1230, AFL-CIO, who recommended approval of the proposed recommendations; Mr. Zachary J . Montgomery, President of the Contra Costa County Fire Commissioners Association, who asked that the proposed recommendations insofar as they refer to the per- sonnel of the fire districts be referred to the Fire Com- missioners and/or to the Supervisors Fire Advisory Com- mittee; om- mittee; Mr. Harry Ramsay, Undersheriff, who urged that the Beard immediately adopt the recommendations of the Civil Service Commission insofar as they apply to the police series; NOW, THEREFORE, and on motion of Supervisor Nielsen, sec- onded by Supervisor Kenny, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the rec- ommendations of the Civil Service. Commission be and they are hereby approved insofar as they refer to the police series, to be effective January 1, 1962, as follows : Present Allocation Recommended Rate Matron 31(436 - 530) 32(458 - 556) Deputy Sheriff 33(481 - 584) 3 €(50.5 - 613) Juvenile Control Officer 33(481 - 584) 34(50,5 - 613) Sergeant 36(556 - 676) 37(584 - 710) Captain 41(71.0 - 862) 42(745 - 905) Chief of Communications 41(710 - 862) 42(745 - 905) Criminalist 41(710 - 862) 42(745 - 905) Undersheriff 44(821 - 998) 45(862 - 1047) RESOLUTION No. 38 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that action on the recommendations of the Civil Service Commission insofar as the fire personnel is concerned be continued to November 14, 1961, at 11 a.m. , and the Personnel Director is directed to notify each fire district that said matter will be considered on that date and to provide each district with data concerning the Civil Service Commission' s rec- ommendations .
