HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10172007 - RES-320 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the utter of Proclaiming } October 19, 20 and 21, 1961, Resolution No. 320 Pittsburg-Antioch-Concord } Steelmark bays. ) We, the duly elected officials of Contra Costa County communities, do hereby proclaim in the name of the people of Contra Costa County, that the days of October 19s 20 and 21, 1961, be known as the FITTSBUKG-ANTIOCH-CONCORD STE-`ELMARK DAYS. Whereas, a major portion of the citizens of this area are directly engaged in the production of steel and therefore affected by the economic health of the steel industry, we deem it to be to our best: interests to support and encourage the commercial movements of goods and products made of steel; and Whereas, we can demonstrate our mutual interests in the Steel Industry by conducting a program designed to (1) salute the men who make steel, (2) create a new awareness of steel and steel products made in our industrial County, (3) promote the sale of products made of steel; WE DO, THEREFORE, issue notice of our intent to join hands with the Steel Industry that has provided economic life blood for our communities in order to accomplish the aforesaid objectives. And, in turn, to call upon all citizens, merchants and manufacturers In this area to lend their support and good will by actively par- ticipating. In recognition of the stake that our communities have in the Steel Industry, WE DO HEREBY ADOPT the STEELMARK hallmark of the Steel Industry and of products made of steel as the official symbol of our program. So that this Proclamation will be brought to the attent"on of every citizen in our area, we deem it necessary that it be publicly stated that our participation in STEELMARK DAYS, is aimed in strengthening the sinews of commerce and emphasizing the important role steel plays in oucommunity life. For, by so doing, we are helping insure the job security of our fellow townspeople, strengthen- ing the purchasing power of our communities and maintaining the economic health of Contra Costa County. Resolution No. ' ' PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of September, 1961, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, Mel F. Nielsen, Thomas John Coll, Edmund A.
