HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10172007 - RES-302 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of the San 2 Francisco Bay Area Rapid RtSOLUTION NO.: 0 V Transit District. WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District has refused to cooperate in the development of any additional facts concerning the adequacy of the Golden Gate Bridge to support rapid transit facilities; and WHEREAS, Marin County will be deprived of rapid transit facilities at least for the foreseeable future if such facilities are not installed on the Golden Gate Bridge; and WHEREAS, the Beard of Supervisors of Contra Costa County considers it of the utmost importance that Marin County be limed with San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area by rapid transit so as to provide a truly regional system; and WHEREAS, the Beard of Directors of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid. Transit District, in the interest of developing all facts concerning this important public issue, has petitioned the Boards of Supervisors of the County of Marin and the City and County of San Francisco to join with the Transit District in the convening of an impartial Engineering Board. of Review to adjudicate the difference of engineering opinion. concerning the adequacy of the Golden Gate Bridge to accommodate rapid transit facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby endorse the recommendation of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District and respectfully urges its acceptance by the Boards of Supervisors of the County of Marin and the City and County of San Francisco; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of- Contra Costa, does..hereby respectfully urge that this is- sue of great public concern be resolved with all possible speed to the end that the Transit District can submit a general obligation bond proposition to the electorate of the Bay Area in conjunction with the State primary Election on June 5, 1962; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the golden Gate Bridge and Highway District, the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District, and the Boards of Super- visors of the County of Marin, City and County of San Francisco, County of Alameda, and County of San Mateo . RESOLUTION NO, 302 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of September, 1961, by the following vote .of .the Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. fenny, Mel F. Nielsen, Thomas John Coll, Edmund A. Linscheid, Joseph S. Silva. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. 0
