In the Matter of Inclusion
of retirees in the group RESOLUTION NO. 2 6

health plans, etc.
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa,
State of California, does resolve as follows :
THAT employees retiring from the County service may be
continued in the County's hospital and medical plan in accordance
with the following provisions :
Continued membership in the County' s hospital and medi-
cal plan under either the Kaiser Health Plan or the
California Physicians ' Service minus life insurance
and accidental death and dismemberment coverage is now
available to employees retiring on or after July 11
1961, from County employment under the following con-
ditions:
To be eligible the retiring employee must have been a
member of the particular plan in which he is a member
at retirement at least three 3) consecutive years im-
mediately prior to July 1, 1961, at least four (4)
years prior to July 11 1962 and prior to and after
July 11 1963 at least five N years .
The following; situations are excepted from the above
general rule:
1. Employees who have transferred from one plan to
the other prior to publication date of this an-
nouncement and as a result do not qualify as
above will be permitted to continue at retire-
ment in the plan in which they are now a member
provided they have been a member of either plan
for at least the minimum periods outlined in the
general conditions immediately prior to retire-
ment .
2. Employees who are members of one of the plans at
the publication date of this notice and who be-
came members of a health plan within 30 days of
the date they became eligible for membership in
the health plan may continue membership after re-
tirement in the plan of which they are a member
at the time of publication of this notice if be-
cause of retirement they cannot qualify as above,
provided they are continuously members of that
plan. unil retirement .

Retiring employees who elect to continue group member-
ship under the above program must indicate their elec-
tion by making a formal request on proper forms filed
with the Civil Service Department within thirty (30)
days of their official retirement date or within thirty
(30) days of the publication date of this notice which-
ever is the later. Until statutory authorization of
County contribution to retirees premium the retiree
must pay the whole premium through deduction from his
retirement annuity payments .
THAT the District Attorney is directed to prepare an
amendment to the County Salary Ordinance to provide that the
County financial contribution to the hospital and medical plan
premiums of active County employees be granted on the same basis
to those initially receiving retirement allowances on or after
July 1, 1961, said ordinance to be effective October 11 1961.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of August, 1961, by
the following vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, Mel F. Nielsen,
Thomas John Coll, Edmund A. Linscheid,
Joseph S . Silva.
