HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10172007 - RES-251 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming +r► September 1-30, 1961, as "KEEP RESOLUTION No. 2 � 1. CALIFORNIA GREEN MONTH. WHEREAS, California's millions of acres of forest land and ranges constitute an irreplaceable natural resource; and WHEREAS, all residents of our great State, and in this county, participate in this wealth -- through many thousands of jobs created in production of countless forest products for every- day use, by ever increasing recreational use of forest areas, pro- duction of foodstuffs and management of watersheds vital to our critical water needs; and WHEREAS, each year many milions of dollars are lost to our economy through negligent and wasteful destruction of these natural resources by man-caused forest and range fires; and WHEREAS, common sense fire prevention practices such as thoroughly extinguishing all fires, using ash trays while travel- ing, making certain matches and smokes are out before discarding and being careful with the use of any outdoor fire, whatever the circumstance, will materially reduce needless destruction and greatly help Keep California Green; and WHEREAS, the late Summer and. early Fall is historically the time of greatest fire danger; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT KNOWN that this Board of Super- visors does hereby proclaim the period of September 1--30, 1961, as "KEEP CALIFORNIA GREEN MONTHS" in Contra Costa County as a means of focusing public attention on the necessity of preventing forest fires and does also commend all residents to take an active part throughout the year to Keep California Green, and ever productive . The foregoing proclamation was passed this 15th day of August, 1961, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors Thomas John Coll, Edmund A . Linscheid, Joseph S. Silva. NOES: None .
