HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10172007 - RES-201 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of AESOL,UTION NO. 2 0 HR-1159. WHEREAS, the maritime industry on the Pacific Coast has been allowed a 6 per cent construction differential which has per- mitted the west to maintain a reasonable and minimum shipbuilding capacity, proven in two World Wars to be essential to the security of the country; and WHEREAS, the Federal general Accounting Office is now making detailed analyses with respect to this 6 per cent differ- ential; and. WHEREAS, HR-1159 is apparently receiving; the considera- tion of the Congress without awaiting; the results of the study being made by the General Accounting Office; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that the President of the United States be requested to take action such that HR-1159 be returned by the House Mules Committee to the House Merchant Marine Committee until the Federal General Accounting Office study is completed and all facts are available; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to United States Senator Thomas H. Kuchel, United States Senator Clair Engle, and Congressman John F. Baldwin. PASSED AND ADOPTED this llth day of July, 19610 by the following vote of the Board; AYES: Supervisors James P.
