OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Pedestrian
Crossing Guard Program for RESOLUTION NO. 10
fiscal year 1951-62.
WHEREAS, this Board has been advised and finds that it is
necessary and desirable that adequate protection be provided for
public school pupils who are required to cruse heavily traveled
highways in the unincorporated territory of the County of Centra
Costa; and
WHEREAS, this Board has been advised, and it finds that it
is necessary and desirable to provide such protection, by means
of crossing guards, at such locations as may be designated by the
Berard, in the County of Contra Costa, State of California; and
WHEREAS, Section 2120 of the Streets and Highways Code of
the State of California provides that upon the request of the
Board of Supervisors of any county, the Controller may deduct
from the apportionment to such county any amount specified in
such request and pay the amount to any state department for ser-
vice to be furnished in accordance with the request;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Contra. Costa, State _of California, in regular
session assembled this 23rd day of May, 1961, that this Board
does hereby request and authorize the Department of California
Highway Patrol of the State of California to provide the services
of crossing ,guards for the 1.95152 fiscal year at such locations
as may be designated by the Board, in the County of Contra Costa,
State of California, so that adequate protection may be afforded
to public school pupils who are required to crass the said high-
ways, which are heavily traveled, and which are located in the
unincorporated territory of the County of Contra Costa; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Controller of the State of
California be and he is hereby authorized to deduct the amount ex-
pended by the said Department of California Highway Patrol for
salaries and wages of the said crossing guards and an amount not
to exceed 15 .5% of said salaries and wages for general administra-
tive expenses of the California Highway Patrol of the State of
California from any apportionments made or to be made to the County
of Contra Costa from the Highway Users Tax Fund, and transfer the
same to the said Department of California Highway Patrol; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the State Controller be and he
is hereby authorized to deduct the employer's share of retirement
contributions, if any, from said apportionments, not to exceed the
rate of 8.2% of member' s compensation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the State Controller may deduct
$2.50 per member per year for the cost of administration of the
Retirement System; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that additional persons be provided
to act as relief guards in addition to the regular guards, to take
the place of regularly employed guards when they are off duty due
to illness or for any other reason; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
sent to the Department of California Highway Patrol of the State
of California., and to the Controller of the State of California;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the locations at which the
California Highway. Pat,rol. is .requested to provide the services of
such crossing wards are as follows :

ing vote of the Board: .
