HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012005 - 2005-544 IN THE MATTER OF DECLARING RESOLUTION NO. 2005/544 SEPTEMBER 2005 NATIONAL ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION RECOVERY MONTH WHEREAS, substance use disorders are a serious and treatable health problem, and as many as'63 percent of Americans say that addiction to alcohol or other drugs has had an impact on theta at some point in their lives,whether it was the addiction of friend or family member or another experience, such as their own personal addiction,and WHEREAS, assessing our citizen's needs for addiction,tratment and referring them to appropriate treatment,and theinfamil .I rnbers to support services,is a I r clal first step in helping people realize that recovery rs'possible and treatment is effective;and WHEREAS, barriers to accessing treatment programs that can help heal lives, families, and our community are a significant problem for our neighbors, friends,co-woirkers, and family members with substance use disorders;and WHEREAS, community members seeking treatment deserve affordable, ffidividual zed treatment prdgrams;and WHEREAS,.celefrxattng individuals in recovery,and they fa�trnlies,and astlttit�g the health care providers wl o helped thein;'obtain:treatment educates our com ri.,about the benei`its bf ffeatment and affilins that such providers deserve adequate compensation for theei vices; and WHEREAS,to`help achieve this goal;the Alcoholand Qth .l g .Ai<i�s ry,Beard of.Contra Costa County urges all residents to participate in NationalAlec he l and'Drug,Addiction Recovery Month, September 2005. , NOW THEREP-ORE-,BE IT RESOLVED,that the':Co ritrk. o.sqa:County Board of Supervisors proclaims September 2005 to be National'Alcohol anti`00 tug Addict 6n Recovery Month in this County and-celebrates the tremendous strides taken by individuals who have undergone successful treatment and recogmzes.tiiose in.tk e,treatixient field who have dedicated their lives to helping people recover from:thcir addictions 4Ie encourage all members of our eofzrtnunity to embrace this year's theme "Join the Voices'f'or Recovery,Healing Lives, Families and Communities" by participating in National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month Activities.
