HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01312003 - 99-372 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring DanielHill Daniel,) Music Publishers, on the success of the )- inspirational song"Mentor" -} RESOLUTION NO. 99/372 9WEREA$ Sammie Lee Hill, songwriter, -Tony Daniel.and Lee Daniel composers, John Morris, personal manager, and Jessica Haynie, songstress combined their talents pct Daniel Hill Daniel, a Contra Crista-based company,-to produce the song "Mentor"for Invest In Fids; and- RWEREAj Supervisor DeSaulnier"and Supervisor Uilkema serve on the Advisory Board of - Invest In .Kids, a nonprofit Contra Costa program for avrisk youth; and 9WEREAS Daniel Hill Daniel's concern for our local youth inspired the:writing of the song, that has encouraged both youth and adults to `do the right thing'; and _ HWEREAS Daniel Hill Daniel has donated proceeds of the song to Invest In Kids; and, 4WEREASy "Mentor" has received recognition from President -Clinton, Colorado Governor Bill Owens, General Colin Powell at the 1999 National Community Service Conference and State Assemblyman Tom Torlakson; and UWEREAS;-the collaboration on Wentor" has been such an inspiration to this community that recognition has been given to the song by local media as well as high schools requesting its - - presentation at area graduations. r NOW THEREFORE .BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors dries hereby - - acknowledge the talent and generosity of Daniel Hill Daniel for its motivational compositon- "Mentor".
