Whereas, Contra Costa County Agriculture is unique to the area, an,-l-
-Whereas, .agriculture is an $87 miawn industry in Contra Costa County, ant-
'Whereas, the citizens of Contra Costa County have expressed a desire to have a
strong agricuCturalpresence in the county, anifi
'Whereas, development pressures threaten the presence of agricuCture in Contra
Costa County, and;
'Whereas, the Board of Supervisors seeks to encourage andpromote economic
viability of agriculture in the county, ani
'Whereas, the USDA Farm.Service Agency provides programs that offer Cow
interest Loans, disaster relief grants, disaster assistance loans, and crop
insurance for famiCy ownedfarms, anal-
'Whereas, the proximity of the,Farm Service .agency to other agricultural
services and organizations is an important consideration to efficiency for the
grower andaClows for free interaction between service organizations, ane%
'Whereas the next closest FS-A office to our growers is located in Stockton where
the growing conditions are significantly different than those in Contra Costa and
ACameda Counties;
NOW, THERE,FORE,2?E IT RBSOL VBD that the Contra Costa County Board of
Supervisars recognizes the needfor a strong `LtSDApresence in the county, anti;
BE I?'FttRTHER RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of
Supervisors urges the continuation of these services andfurther urges the
continuation of a Farm.Service .agency office in this county.
