HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10141997 - 97-527 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring the 1997 ) Recipients of the Conflict Resolution ) �; Panel's Peacemaker Awards for their ) I Outstanding Service to their ) Communities and Declaring ) October 16, 1997, as PEACEMAKER ) DAY in Contra Costa County. ) Resolution 97/527 i i I, WHEREAS,Conflict Resolution Panels(CRP)was an outgrowth of annual Law Day Programs at Diablo Valley College more than fourteen years ago and incorporated as a non-profit organization to mediate community disputes in a peaceful manner without use of courts,police or violence;and WHEREAS, volunteers are trained according to the California Conflict Resolution Act and have rendered services without cost to over 8,000 Contra Costars of various economic and cultural backgrounds;and WHEREAS, consultation and mediation,anger management and diversity training provided by CRP has helped neighbors,families,businesses, homeowners associations,and public and private organizations to find lasting solutions to conflict(confidentially);and WHEREAS,Conflict Resolution Panels ahs celebrated annually the achievements and outstanding contributions of individuals in the Contra Costa County Communities in peacemaking;and I WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Conflict Resolution Panels annual Peacemaker Awards Dinner will be held on Thursday,October 16, 1997 at the Sheraton Hotel. 45 John Glenn Drive,in Concord, California,to pay tribute to persons nominated by various organizations—Battered Women's Alternative, Concord Police, City of Richmond,North Richmond Neighbo1 hood House,Mt.Diablo School District, NAACP and S.E.L.P.A.;and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby designate Thursday, October 16, 1997,1 as PEACEMAKER DAY in Contra Costa County and extends its congratulations to the 1997 CRP awardees for outstanding services to the Contra Costa County Communities; Melissa Leonard,Kevin Wise,Mark Kincannon, Joe McCoy,Diego Garcia, Stephanie Barrington, Corine Phelps,Darlene Nash,Marcie hlMler, and Annie Nolen.
