HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10011996 - 96-429 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING ] RESOLUTION NO. 96/429 MICHAEL AND CONNIE COLLIER ] AS THE 1996 CITIZENS OF THE ] YEAR FOR THE CITY OF LAFAYETTE ] WHEREAS, MICHAEL and CONNIE COLLIER have been actively involved in the City of Lafayette through their involvement with the local schools, youth sports programs and civic service activities since they moved to Lafayette in 1984; and, WHEREAS, MICHAEL COLLIER has served on the Lafayette Design Review Commission for the past seven years and the Planning Commission for the last two years. Michael served on the Lafayette Community Parklands Foundation that helped fund the 68 acre Lafayette Park off St. Mary's Road in the city; and WHEREAS; CONNIE COLLIER has supported and been involved in the Lafayette Arts and Science Foundation helping to raise money for Lafayette's public schools. Colleen has also been instrumental in creating the Lafayette Cookbook Collection which brought in $120,000 for the schools; and, WHEREAS, MICHAEL and COLLEEN COLLIER have two children Daniel, 14, and Katie, 12, who both attend the local public schools. The Collier's also have a history of Citizens' of-the Year in their families, with Connie's father, Ed Stokes winning this same award in 1976; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does honor, recognize and commend MICHAEL & COLLEEN COLLIER for their contributions to the City of Lafayette. PASSED by vote of the Board members present on this 1st day of October, 1996.
