on the Occasion of their 50th Anniversary
` NERM, the Antioch Lions Club, the first service cl46 organized in Antioch, was
charteredon October 29, 1945,proudly embracing the 'We Serve"spirit of internationalLionism;
UNIN", the Antioch Lions Club cele6rates its 50th Anniversary with Justifia6le pride
and spirit. She Antioch Lions Club has a long and proud service history and served as a exemplary
part of an international service organization representing 1.5 million members worldwide. 2Tre c146
o6jectives include:
7o arate andjbster a sport of w derstan&W among the peoples ofthe world
7o pnmote the pinciples ofgoodgoswument andcitizenship.
7o takF an actim mterrst in civic,culturalandsocialwielfan of the community.
7o provide a forum far the open discucccron of affwatten of pubfu interna"
7o encourage service minded men and women to=w their community without
penonalf wncw1rewar4 and to encourage of mency and promote high ethicalstandards in
commerce,industry,professions,pub&c worf6 andprfiaate endeavors
4N.1(E4�EAS, the Antioch Lions Club has provided outstanding leadership and fuming for
the construction of the Diablo valley Bftnd Center, conducted numerous Mealth Fairs and eye and
hearing exams for East County residents,provided the needy with financial assistance for eye surgery
and other mediad bills and developed a referral program through the school district for needy children
to receive free eye exams andglasses;
4VMRE EAS, the club has contributed to education by providing an annualAntioch Lions
Cl46 scholarship for local Antioch 7Ctgh School students, by taking an active rode in fighting for
educational and prevention programs about alcohol and substance abuse, by developing the Wary
mocha Chidd Care Center, by contributing nearly $15,000 and provided volunteer time for the Lions-
Quest program, by providing funding for the Oedta Learning.Center,
WXE4oiBAS, the Antioch Lions Club has participated for several years in the Flag (Day
program at Antioch schools, churches andnon profit organizations by providingAmerican fiags;
1014S, senior citizens have received dediated service from the Antioch Lions Club
which has provided funds and volunteers for the Annual Antioch Senior Citizens C146 Omit, by
serving as a major donor to support the East County Senior Day Care Trogram;
%NIN EAS, the club annuaQy participates in the "Adopt A-Family" Thanksgiving and
Christmas program and is a major contributor to the 911adf-a-%ish Foundation;
4 MW"S, the Antioch Lions Club will celebrate their Stith Anniversary of their
Chartering during a special dinner on October 21, 1995,

Contra Costa, Caftfornia, does hereby proclaim Saturday, October 21, 1995, as "Antioch Lions C146
Day" in Contra Costa County on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the clubs chanter and in
recognition of the club's outstanaing andcde&atedservice to the community.
