IN SUPPORT OF THE MARTINEZ ] RESOLUTION NUMBER 94/523
REGIONAL LAND TRUST'S SHELL ]
MARSH WATERSHED NATURAL ]
HISTORY INTERPRETIVE PROGRAM ]
WHEREAS , a prime goal of The Martinez Regional Land Trust is to
actively involve local citizens and school children so that they
develop a sense of stewardship for the natural resources that
enrich the quality of life for all Martinez residents and;
WHEREAS , The Martinez Regional Land Trust will be providing an
interpretive program that is near enough to the Martinez Schools to
allow frequent visits from students, and consistent participation
of community volunteers; and
WHEREAS, The Martinez Regional Land Trust proposes to train student
and adult volunteers in data collection and field observation at
Shell Marsh to develop interpretive programs in natural history and
land use; and
WHEREAS, The Martinez Regional Land Trust, during their six year
history, has focused on land conservation and land acquisition and
has also focused on the equally important role of interpreting the
vast wealth of natural resources and natural areas for the
community; and
WHEREAS, the efforts of the Martinez Regional Land Trust will
greatly enhance the historical, educational, and cultural
environment in the Martinez area;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County supports and commends the efforts of the
Martinez Regional Land Trust.
PASSED by vote of the Board members present on this 25th day of
October, 1994 .
