HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10181994 - 94-505 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring the ) Concord/Kitakami Sister City Program ) RESOLUTION NO. 94/505 on the Occasion of its 20th Anniversary ) WHEREAS, on October 25, 1974, the cities of Concord and Kitakami, Japan, signed a proclamation to declare the two places as sister cities; and WHEREAS, on October 20, 1994, at the opening ceremonies of the week-long 20th anniversary celebration, Mayor Mike Pastrick and Mayor Moriyoshi Takahashi will reenact the signing of the original proclamation; and WHEREAS, the ceremony will be held in the Kitakami Friendship Garden at Concord City Hall, and the "Communion Bridge" will be unveiled. The sculpture was created to represent the symbolic bridge between the two cities; and WHEREAS, in the 20 years of the partnership, adults and students from both cities have traveled back and forth, exchanging the history and culture of both countries; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors welcomes the 80 ambassadors that will be touring Concord and Contra Costa County during the week of October 19-23 and extends best wishes for a fun- filled trip. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors the Concord/ Kitakami Sister City Program on the occasion of its 20th anniversary and wishes both Kitakami and Concord a continued enjoyable and productive partnership.
