HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10181994 - 94-502 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter Commending Yvonne Bullock For Her Dedication To Social Services Resolution 941502 In Contra Costa Upon The Occasion of Her Retirement Whereas, Yvonne Bullock began her career in the Social Service Department in September 1969 as an Eligibility Worker, held various income maintenance supervisory duties from 1971 to 1981, and served as Program Manager from March 1981 to October 1987 when she was named Assistant County Welfare Director; and Whereas, through her endeavors, a "walk-in intake system" was developed in Richmond which resulted in more efficient and friendly services to Social Service clients. She has consistently been responsible for fostering cultural sensitivity amongst staff and community members; and Whereas, she was a member of the County Homeless Management Team that established the first county owned shelter at the Work Furlough site in North Richmond. Her involvement in the community is also evidenced by her service on the Neighborhood House of North Richmond's board of directors from 1982 to 1987 and her participation in establishing a volunteer pool for the West County Food Pantry; and Whereas, through her endeavors, many West County community - minorities have been encouraged to take county employment tests being made aware by her of the opportunity available in county service. She was one of the first managers to join the Contra Costa County Black Employees Association thereby encouraging other managers and employees to become members: Now, therefore be it resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County commends Yvonne Bullock for her twenty-five years of dedicated service in the Social Service Department and deeply appreciates her devotion to the citizens she served so well; and Be it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County joins with friends and family in wishing Yvonne much success in all her future endeavors and great happiness during her retirement years.
