HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10111994 - 94-491 Board of Supervisors Of Contra Costa County, State of California IN THE MATTER PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF ] OCTOBER, 1994, "HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH" ] 94/491 IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY ] WHEREAS, the contributors, culture and presence of the Hispanic people within Contra Costa County and California pre-date the war of independence; and WHEREAS, Hispanic culture and the Spanish language is a predominate influence throughout the world, nation, state, and county, Contra Costa means By The Coast in Spanish; and WHEREAS, the contributions of Hispanics in all areas of life, Government, Aerospace, community service, small and large business, agriculture, education, science, entertainment, as well as a long tradition of recognized military service, Hispanics have the highest ,percentage of Medal of Honors among any group; and WHEREAS, the Hispanic population is the youngest and fastest growing population in the nation with a deep appreciation of their heritage, a strong commitment to their community and overall community and a united vision of the leadership they will provide in the 21 st century. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors declares the month of October, 1994 'HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH' in Contra Costa County.
