AS LAFAYETTE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE]
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR ]
WHEREAS, Barb Sorken, owner of the Barb & Friends Hair Salon, has
shown herself to be an outstanding example of a business person who
demonstrates exemplary community involvement through a variety of
volunteer activities; and
WHEREAS, Barb Sorken has served faithfully as a past president of
the Chamber of Commerce and is presently a Chamber Board member and
area representative; and
WHEREAS, Barb Sorken has been an energetic, enthusiastic and
effective spokesperson for the "Buy Lafayette" campaign; and
WHEREAS, Barb Sorken has been a generous, charitable Chamber
member, serving as a liaison to the Community Center Foundation
Board; and
WHEREAS, Barb Sorken has skillfully coordinated the Chamber' s
Bridal Affaire for many years; and
WHEREAS, Barb Sorken has proved of invaluable worth by organizing
fundraising activities for the Food for the Needy program including
the recently completed canister drive; and
WHEREAS, Barb Sorken has proven of invaluable assistance by serving
on the Concours d' Elegance Committee several times, coordinating
the Preview Party and selling all the advertising for the Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County, do hereby thank, recognize, congratulate, and commend
BARB SORKEN
