HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 11051991 - 91-588 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS 3:V OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE�OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF Proclaiming the month of November "Hospice Month in) Contra Costa County. " RESOLUTION NO-1 91/ 588 WHEREAS, Hospice of Contra Costa serves the needs of terminally ill patients and their families in Central Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, Central Contra Costa County alone has approximately 800 deaths from cancer each year; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Contra Costa offers a specially trained team of healthcare professionals and volunteers to any patients with a terminal illness as long as the patient is willing to accept hospice services; and WHEREAS, Hospice services, which are free of charge, are offered 7 days a week, 24 hours a day; and WHEREAS, the majority of the Hospice's budget is dependent on community contributions, fundraising events and the Hospice Thrift Shop in Walnut Creek; and two support groups one in Orinda and one in the San Ramon Valley, give generously of their time and energy to help raise funds to educate the community about the Hospice Mission; and WHEREAS, since its inception in 1977, Hospice of Contra , Costa has served over 1,800 patients and their families. I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County THANKS Hospice of Contra Costa for their efforts to serve their fellow citizens and DECLARES the month of November, 1991 to be "Hospice Month in Contra Costa County. " PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors present on this 5th day of November, 1991.
