Board of Trustees of the ) San Ramon Valley Unified School District ) Proposing a Qualified Special Tax and ) Establishing Specifications of the Election) Drder "Save Our Schools Yes on Measure C" ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/677 WHEREAS, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District has been forced to eliminate and curtail many essential educational services due to inadequate Eunding from the State Legislature and increased revenues are necessary to :ontinue meeting the students' basic educational needs; and WHEREAS, the District has engaged in a variety of efforts to generate Funds for the District's educational programs, including lobbying in the State Legislature, local fund raising efforts, and cost-cutting measures including :he reduction and elimination of instructional programs and services, but these efforts have not produced sufficient revenues; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees believes that such a qualified Special Tax Ls necessary to provide an adequate educational opportunity for the students of :his District; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the governing board of the San Ramon Talley Unified School ,District to conduct an election on November 5, 1991 to be .onsolidated with the general Statewide election, at which time will be submitted to the qualified voters of the San Ramon Valley Unified School )istrict a measure to authorize a parcel tax for the purpose of reinstating and :ontinuing vital District-wide educational programs critical to the educational,, >rocess in the schools of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District; and WHEREAS, the funds shall be used to restore and continue quality academic )rograms and services District-wide including academic class sizes, restoration >f the elementary and secondary library programs, computer and technology >rograms, elementary reading specialists with other essential programs and ;lementary music programs. NOWEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra :osta County, does hereby SUPPORT the "San Ramon Valley Unified School District >ualified Special Tax For Educational Programs" which reads: The San Ramon â–ºalley Unified School District will provide funds for the reinstatement and :ontinuance of District-wide educational programs by levying a parcel tax of )ne hundred dollars per assessor's parcel, excluding property exempted by law, .or a limited period of 12 years beginning July 1, 1992 and ending June 30, !004, with an exemption for any owner of a parcel who has attained the age of 6 on or before May 1st of any applicable year and who uses that parcel as its/her principal place of residence. PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board of members present on :his 15th day of October, 1991.
