OLIVER HOLIES ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/ 680
Oliver Holmes was appointed to the Pleasant Hill Recreation and
Parks Committee in 1965 after a campaign to institute Brookwood
Park into the City' s system of parks. After this appointment,
he was elected twice--serving 11 years. He was elected to the
Pleasant Hill City Council in 1976--serving on that body for
9 1/2 years as of November 1989.
011ie was the Council representative to the committee charged
with siting the new city hall. He looks forward to the ground
breaking ceremonies in the near future.
Another accomplishment he is proud of is his service on the
Advisory Committee for the Pleasant Hill BART Station Steering
Committee. With community imput, the new location was chosen as
ideal for serving the needs of Pleasant Hill residents for years
to come.
Oliver Holmes spent 30 years in the U.S. Forest Service in four
different national forests. Over half that time Oliver served
as Deputy Director of Fire Management in the Regional Office in
San Francisco.
Among other activities, 011ie is active in the Schoolhouse
Consortium in Pleasant Hill, the Chilpancingo Sister City
Program, and in the Hillcreast Congregational Church.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
congratulates and honors OLIVER HOLMES for his many years of
dedicated service to his country and the Pleasant Hill
community.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON October 17, 1989, by a unanimous vote of
the board members present.
