HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10171989 - 89-679 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF 'CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring ) DIANE LONGSHORE ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/ 679 Diane Longshore of " the Concord City Council was elected in 1980. On November 21, 1989, she will step down after nine years of service. Prior to coming to the city council, Diane owned her own business, Reddi-Rooter Sewer and Drain, and she was also a real estate broker. Diane ran for city council because she felt that business needed a stronger voice in city government. Among her many significant contributions to the general health of the city, Diane considers one of her most important actions to be the privilege of having a say and providing input for the economic development and environment of Concord. Diane also takes pride in her involvement with innovative programs on housing. She went to Sacramento to work with Housing and Community Development to set up a loan program for residents of apartments and condominiums, which enabled them to purchase their units rather than having to relocate. She worked for a housing mix in Concord seeking to include all levels of housing, not just afforable, so that there would be a balanced mix in the community. She also played a role in the establishment of senior citizen housing. Diane was also involved in the setting up of the independent child care administrative programs which evolved into the Contra Costa Child Care Council. Diane was very involved in the negotiations for the contract with Bill Graham for the Concord Pavilion. She is justifiably proud as this endeavor turned around the economic viability of the Pavilion. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors congratulates and honors DIANE LONGSHORE for her many years of service to the City of Concord as an elected official.
