In the Matter of Congratulating )
Dean Lesher On His Receipt of the ) Resolution No. 88/685
National Service Medal From the )
Freedoms Foundation )
WHEREAS Dean Lesher was awarded the National Service Medal
from the Freedom Foundation in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania;
and
WHEREAS Dean Lesher was nominated to receive this
prestigious award by George Measer, Publisher of Bee
Publications in Buffalo, New York, a significant recognition
by one of his peers (if, indeed there are any) ; and
WHEREAS Dean Lesher dedicates himself to the improvement of
Contra Costa County through focused philanthropies in the
areas of the arts, health, industry and trade associations
and higher education; and
WHEREAS Dean Lesher presents a model of the ideal, engaged
citizen, one who is willing to expend his considerable
talents energies and private fortune for the betterment of
his community, Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS Dean Lesher uses the considerable influence of his
quality newspapers to bring the needs of the arts, health
and higher education in Contra Costa County to the attention
of the residents; and
WHEREAS Dean Lesher understands that the power of the pen
combined with the power of the checkbook can do mighty deeds
and improve our society; and
WHEREAS Dean Lesher brings to his work a keen appreciation
of the blessings of our country's freedoms, the virtues of
hard work and high standards of excellence in his personal,
business and philanthropic actions.
NOW EFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors,
of the County of Contra Costa, California, RECOGNIZES Dean
Lesher's honor as a recipient of the National Service Medal,
COMMENDS his dedication to civic betterment, and SALUTES a
career devoted to excellence in public and private life.
Passed and adopted on November 1, 1988 by unanimous vote of
the Board members present.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of
Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
