THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on October 18, 1988 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers , Fanden, McPeak, Torlakson and Schroder.
NOES: None

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO RENAME AND/OR RENUMBER
SELECTED EAST COUNTY STREETS INCLUDING HIGHWAY 4 FOR
ADDRESS PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has directed the Community
Development Department to complete the street address system
within the eastern portion of Contra Costa County.
WHEREAS, at the request of emergency service agencies serving the
East County area, a number of changes to the existing street name
and numbering system have been proposed as described in
Attachment A. These changes are intended to facilitate the
location of emergency incidents in the East County Area.
WHEREAS, among the proposed changes, State Highway 4 is proposed
to be renamed and renumbered; and that the California Department
of Transportation has no objections to these changes.
WHEREAS, most of the proposed changes affect streets within the
unincorporated area of eastern Contra Costa County, but also
affect several streets within the City of Brentwood, therefore,
the proposed changes have been coordinated with the City of
Brentwood.
WHEREAS, in accord with Board Resolution No. 78/612 Pertaining to
the Board of Supervisors' policy on the renaming of roads, this
proposal was transmitted to the Public Works Director who has
reviewed the proposed changes.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County hereby ADOPTS a resolution of intention to
rename and/or renumber sixteen (16) East County streets as
described in Attachment A.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Supervisor Torlakson is requested to
propose to the Community Development Department two new road
names for a segment of Laurel Road and segment of Camino Diablo
as described in Attachment A.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a hearing on said resolution of
intention has been fixed for November 8, 1988 at 11: 00 a.m. in
the Chambers of the Board of Supervisors, Administration
Building, Martinez, California at which time and place the Board
will consider the proposal in said resolution and any objections
thereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Community Development Department
is directed to cause notices to be posted pursuant to Section
970.5 of the California Streets and Highway Code.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in addition to the required legal
notice, the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is directed to
provide published notice of the proposed changes in a local
newspaper and to provide mailed notice to the appropriate
agencies.
