In the matter of honoring )
the United Council of Spanish )
Speaking Organizations, Inc. )
on its 20th Anniversary. ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/ 640
For the past twenty years the United Council of Spanish
Speaking Organizations has offered community services to the
citizens of Contra Costa County.
From its beginnings with a grant from the United States
Office of Economic Opportunity and a staff of five, services
consisting of housing, information and referral employment,
interpretation services and adult English classes have been
offered.
At the present time, the United Council of Spanish Speaking
Organizations has expanded its services to include all residents
of the County, with over $2 million in program activities and
more than 150 employees working in twenty-three facilities
located throughout the County.
Without the help and assistance of the United Council of
Spanish Speaking Organizations to the citizens of our County,
many of our citizens would never have the skills or the
opportunity to become self-sufficient members of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
that the United Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations, be
honored on its 20th anniversary.
PASSED and ADOPTED on October 28, 1986 by a unanimous vote
of the Board members present.
