CC: ATTESTED PHIL BATCHELOR, CLERK OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR M382/7-83 BY ,DEPUTY - SUPERVISORS -- i , card Order (page 2) Increasing the Hours of a Half-Time MHTS Position to Full-Time for Inpatient Childrens Services at County Hospital using new State Funding provide the Psychiatric Inpatient Services that were designated when the 20/40 position #2048 was originally established by the Board on September 17, 1985. In addition, this Childrens Specialist will also have total responsibility for coordination for the Children's Program, will work as part of a team with the ward psychiatrist and designated nursing staff, and will be responsible for the psychiatric treatment of children on I, J and D Wards. This MHTS will coordinate individual treatment and specialized groups .for kids, conduct family counseling sessions, and represent children's mental health services in the hospital and in the community and be an advocate -for this population. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this recommendation is not approved, we will continue. to be unable to provide adequate treatment for children. Without consistent treatment and continuity of care, these children will not receive the appropriate and necessary treatment while confined to our inpatient psychiatric wards. Without a Childrens Specialist assigned to coordinate their care, some children are in jeopardy of being hospitalized too long or of being discharged prematurely. i a
