SUBJECT: Authorization for Reimbursement) of Expenses Incurred by Reserve) RESOLUTION NO. 84/712 Deputy Sheriffs ) ) The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors RESOLVES THAT: 1. Authority. California Government Code §26227 authorizes the expenditure of money from the county general fund to fund pro- grams needed to meet the law enforcement needs of the public. The Reserve Deputy Sheriffs are a group of volunteers who perform law enforcement functions for the Sheriff in Contra Costa County. Accordingly, the following program is hereby adopted pursuant to Government Code Section 26227 . 2 . Uniform Acquisitions. The Sheriff-Coroner is authorized to purchase an initial uniform for each new Reserve Deputy Sheriff in an amount not to exceed $250. 00 per uniform. 3 . Annual Uniform and Food Allowance. (a) Each Level I, II , and Search and Rescue Level IV Reserve, who works 120 volunteer hours and attends 75% of the reserve meetings each year, shall receive an annual combined uniform and food allowance of $150. 00, payable by the first day of March of the following year. Eligibility for the allowance is established in the calendar year immediately preceding payment of the allowance. (b) Each Level IV Marine Reserve, who works 120 volunteer hours and attends 750 of the reserve meetings each year, shall receive an annual combined uniform and food allowance of $75. 00, payable by the first day of March of the following year. Eligibility for the allowance is established in the calendar year immediately preceding payment of the allowance. 4 . Expense Reimbursement. Reserve Deputy Sheriffs are entitled to reimbursement of the costs of work-related telephone calls, parking, and replacement of damaged uniforms and equipment, subject to the current rules and procedures proscribed for employees of Contra Costa County. 5. Annual Awards Dinner . The Sheriff-Coroner is authorized to spend no more than $700. 00 each year on. the annual awards dinner for Reserve Deputy Sheriffs. 6 . Supersedes other Board Action. This Resolution supersedes all previous Board Resolutions and Orders on the within subjects, including but not limited to the Board Orders of July 10, 1962, December 8 , 1970, and August 28 , 1972. 1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of SuperoRsj rs on the date shown.
