HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 10161984 - 84-624 r3 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on October 16,. 1,984 by the following vote: - 1, AYES: Supervisors Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Powers ABSTAIN: None RESOLUTION NO. 84/ 624 SUBJECT: Hazardous Waste Tax The Board on October 2 having set October 16, 1984 at 10:30 A.M. , as the date and time for a public hearing on the recommendation of the County Administrator that the Board increase the Hazardous Waste Tax imposed pursuant to Ordinance 83-26 (Ordinance Code Chapter 64-10) and pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 25149.5; and The Board having received testimony from Bernard Simonsen, Vice President-- Administration for IT Corporation, commenting on his letter of October 1 , 1984, generally concurring with the methodology used to determine the maximum permissible tax pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 25149.5, but offering reasons why the maximum tax should not be imposed; and The Board having received testimony from Jeff Lyon of Chevron, U.S.A. , expressing concern because his firm had not been notified in advance of the hearing; and The Board members having generally indicated their support for an increase in the tax; IT IS BY THE BOARD RESOLVED that the tax contained in Ordinance Code Section 64-10.404 (a) (1 ) is $3.47 per ton, effective December 1 , 1984. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the tax contained in Ordinance Code Section 64-10.404 (a) (2) is $2.97 per ton, effective December 1 , 1984. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Administrator and Health Services Director are ordered to determine whether the volume of hazardous wastes disposed of at the Class I sites in Contra Costa County is reduced over a period of time and, if so, the reasons for such reduction in volume, and to report their findings to the Board. 1 hereby"Olfy that this 1s a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
