HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01311984 - 84-65 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming ) the Week of February 12-18 ) Resolution No. 84/65 National Crime Prevention Week ) WHEREAS, while a noticeable and welcomed decline in the rate of crime has been recently recorded nationwide, still the level of crime in this county and throughout the nation remains intolerably high and continues to threaten the lives, property, and peace of mind of every citizen in every neighborhood and of every station; and WHEREAS, although we should be heartened by any downturn in the upward spiral of crime which has plagued this nation for so many years, we must not be lulled into believing that the war against crime is over, but rather we should rejoice that our efforts at crime prevention are taking hold and be encouraged to redouble our efforts to further reduce crime in the months ahead; and WHEREAS, the Exchange Clubs of America and, in particular , the Exchange Club of Martinez actively support Neighborhood Watch as one of the most effective means of discouraging criminal activities in residential areas by means of neighbor-to-neighbor cooperation; and WHEREAS, the success of these efforts at crime reduction depend on all of us to learn and utilize those methods and programs which are proven deterrents to crime; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that we do hereby proclaim the week of February 12th through the 18th, 1984, as National Crime Prevention Week. PASSED and ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board on the thirtyfirst day of January 1984 . I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
