SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) 9: BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION: Amending Child Care Institution Rate ScheduleBoard
Resolution 83/892 establishing rates to be paid to child care institutions
for FY 1983-841D include Gold House at $465. per month effective at the
time of the Board action.
BACKGROUND: Gold House, 538 Flower Avenue, Santa Rosa, California 95404,
is licensed by the State Department of Social Services as a Small Family
Home for six children of either sex, ages 0-18. Ambulatory, mentally dis-
ordered, non-violent children are accepted. This non-profit home contains
six bedrooms and is staffed by a husband wife team and an on-call counselor.
The program centers around promotion of daily living skills, education,
socialization and family group meetings.
The minor, age 14, who we wish to place in this facility lived there for
3 1/2 years when he was returned to his mother who presently resides in
Contra Costa County. Jurisdiction was simultaneously transferred to this
County from Sonoma County. Within four months the mother's living arrange-
ments deteriorated and the minor was returned to the Gold House at the request
of both the minor and his mother. It is unlikely that the minor would
respond to a local placement because of his strong desire to return to his
former foster home. Therefore, we are requesting the Board approve the rate
of $465. and add this facility to the Child Care Institution list
